YO! I'M HARRY JAY.
I'm so glad you're here.

YOUR TEACHER
Singing has always been a huge part of my life. Growing up in Arlington VA, I was surrounded by people with 'serious careers', but somehow music followed me the entire time. Piano was my first musical endeavor, and quickly ignited a fire inside me. Soon after came guitar and singing.
I was specifically drawn to soul music of the 60's and 70's and became enthralled with the idea of singing high notes, riffs and belting.
Alas, I was born with a low voice... I was unable to hit anywhere near the range of notes my vocal heroes could.

I started taking my vocals seriously when I was around 15, and quickly learned it was not only a major passion of mine, but a calling. I started performing and seriously taking vocal lessons. I almost quit singing on several occasions as I was frequently told by coaches that I "would never be able to sing high notes". In my senior year, I came across a Youtube video explaining 'mixed voice' and my life was changed forever.
The idea was simple: There's a secret register of your voice that can unlock a whole octave or more of range, and you can train your vocal chords to access it.
I dove headfirst into the concept and began practicing and experimenting daily. My own discoveries led me to increase my range an entire octave!
This unlocked a whole new repertoire for me as a singer, and led me to the best music school in the world- Berklee College of Music in Boston.
As a Berklee Student, I formed and lead a 7 piece Funk/RnB band 'Harry Jay and the Bling'. We tour the US 3 times and even reached #1 on the RnB Bandcamp chart with our EP "Truth".

After graduating early, I moved out to Los Angeles to continue pursuing music.
I began teaching vocals in LA, and before I knew it, I had more than 60 regular students- half in person, half over zoom.
I started posting vocal tips online and quickly amassed a following on Tiktok and Instagram for my viral 'Anyone Can Sing' series. This led me to film an online course to make vocal lessons accessible for all.
I have continued to pursue my own musical endeavors and am always a music student looking for new methods and techniques not only for myself, but for my students. I have been lucky enough to teach some very successful artists over the years and take lessons for myself with some of the best vocal teachers in the world; Dave Stroud, tyler Wyson, Frank Kelley and Debra Byrd.
I love music and I love teaching. I can't wait to meet you and help you along your vocal journey.
Let's unlock your voice!
